Silicon Carbide

Description

Silicon Carbide (SiC) is a hard ceramic semiconducting artificial mineral, refractory raw material, synthesized in a resistant-type electric furnace at 2500°C, through the reaction of silica with carbon.

Main features of Silicon Carbide are chemical inertness, extremely high thermal conductivity, thermal shock resistance, high erosion and abrasion resistance.

Silicon Carbide is used in wide range of industrials markets: electronics, ferro-alloys, foundries, forge plants, powder metallurgy, kiln furniture, muffles and chanber-fronts, tapholes linings, lining industrial furnaces, heat treatment furnace hearth, glass, ceramics, metals, in the construction of furnaces and other high-temperature applications.
